Water is back on in Lakeview

NEW ORLEANS (Lakeview)—

Neighbors in Lakeview are hoping for a drier day after a pair of water-line breaks shut-down their water supply.

A six inch water main on Memphis Street cracked open Thursday afternoon.  A separate water break along Louise the 14th was fixed earlier in the day.

Sewer & Water Board crews shut down the water supply for seven blocks along Memphis.

By early evening workers got the go-ahead to dig around potentially dangerous gas and electrical lines to make repairs.

The Sewer and Water Board is proposing to nearly double customers water rates to pay for improvements.
