The 2012 Zulu queen arrived on Southwest Airlines at 1130 a.m. Sunday at the Louis Armstrong International Airport.
The queen, Dr. Tanyanika Phillips, a New Orleans native, lives in Tulsa, OK, where she works as an oncologist.
Phillips is expected to attend the King and Queen Party at the Hyatt Regency Hotel tonight at 5 p.m. She will arrive at event around 6 p.m. Mayor Mitch Landrieu is also expected to attend the party.
She will be in town until Tuesday, but will return next weekend for the 2012 Zulu Maids Brunch at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the Empire Ballroom.
In addition, King Zulu Elroy James of Baton Rouge is expected to be formally introduced to King Endymion George LaFargue Jr., a Zulu member and the krewe’s first African-American king.
