Digital Journalist - ABC 26 and abc26.com, the ABC affiliate in New Orleans, are looking for a Digital Journalist who can shoot, write, edit, enterprise unique stories, cover breaking news and follow up on news stories. We are looking for the next generation of reporter who thrives on change and differentiation. Your resume link or DVD should showcase what makes you unique. A Digital Journalist is responsible for presentation on multiple media platforms. Strong candidates understand how news video exits on three screens (television, internet and mobile) and are able to produce all three. Candidate must generate stories on a multi-media urgency, with priority being placed on a web-first focus. Digital journalists should be adept at both hard news and features, seeking opportunities to bring stories home to our audiences. Candidate will also understand the importance of growing a Facebook fan page and Twitter account.

It is critical that a Digital Journalist be a highly motivated individual who is well-versed in the rules of journalism, capable of working in a self directed environment and able to exercise a high level of creativity, innovation and enterprise when creating stories for presentation across multiple media delivery platforms.

Successful candidate demonstrates professional attitude and is able to work as a team player with the entire news staff. Must maintain and be responsible for all issued station equipment and vehicles in accordance with stated polices.

College degree preferred. Experience should include a demonstration of writing, shooting and editing skills.




News Editor - ABC26 News seeks candidate who loves pictures, sound and the challenge of deadline news to do video research and editing for news. Linear and Non-Linear Video editing experience required. TV news/production and satellite/microwave feed center operation experience preferred. Must be able to work flexible schedule.




Multi Media Producer - The successful candidate must be a self-starter who knows how to craft news, sports and weather stories from beginning to end. Must demonstrate the ability to independently call sources and follow-up on leads, use discretion to identify the most compelling video and sound, master the station's graphics system and use all of the available information and media to craft creative and accurate stories on-line and on air.

Will work closely with fellow producers, anchors, reporters, assignment desk personnel and Ignite control room operators to ensure technically flawless newscasts. Proficiency at editing video that matches copy preferred.

Outstanding writing skills and solid news judgment are a must. Applicant must show proven ability to produce energetic and compelling newscasts, and adjust quickly and efficiently to breaking news situations. Knowledge of successful use of social media in news coverage is required. Non-linear editing and web-posting skills are also required. Field & associate produce news stories/segments. Back time & insure editorial integrity of the program from the control room during its live presentation. Contribute story ideas for general & special assignment reporters for news broadcasts.

Ideal candidate must be familiar with web-posting, non-linear editing, and have knowledge of social media. Candidate will also understand the importance of growing and maintaining a Facebook fan page and Twitter account.

Essential Functions:
1. This position is responsible for enterprising story ideas, crafting news stories and copy, overseeing newscast structure and creating newscasts that garner strong viewer interest.
2. This position will post content to the web, to email alerts and to text message subscribers as well as manage daily newscasts.
3. Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to on-air presentation of news stories.
4. Ability to establish and work within program format.
5. Ability to make quick and appropriate decisions and gains the cooperation of others. Accurate and comprehensive writing skills as well as good communication skills.
6. Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn new systems.

Qualifications:
At least two years of progressively responsible producing experience in a television newsroom preferred. Formal education equivalent to a BS degree in Journalism, Communications or related field. Valid Driver's License with good driving record. The incumbent may be required to work unconventional hours such as nights and weekends. Extended travel to remote locations for interview, production or field work may also be required.




ABC 26 News seeks a multi-skilled Newscast Director. Successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, graphics-intensive operation. Will be responsible for daily newscasts, specials, breaking news and post-production.

The qualified applicant must have excellent keyboarding, grammar, and spelling skills. Must have strong organizational skills with a high level of self-motivation, technical aptitude and excellent visual sense. Previous Ignite Ross/Pinnacle Deko, ENPS newsroom/control room experience preferred and knowledge of audio, studio cameras and lighting is helpful.

Candidate should have a working knowledge of other newscast production functions and will be trained to edit, write web stories and work on the assignment desk. Three years of directing experience or a combination of directing/TD are preferred. Must work well under pressure and be a great leader/communicator. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and extra hours.
